Dimopoulos Estate was founded in 2015 by Panagiotis Dimopoulos continuing a two-generation family tradition in winemaking. The winery is located in Xino Nero, Amyntaio, Western Macedonia. The estate is surrounded by 440.000m2 privately owned vineyards at an altitude of 630m – 670m. A two-floor stone building dominates in the middle of the vineyard located on the hillside edge of the hill named KontiKarydia (Short Walnut Tree).
Red varieties of grapes such as Xinomavro, Syrah, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, as well as white varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewurtsraminer, and Asyrtiko are cultivated at Dimopoulos Estate. The climate of the area is continental, characterized by cold winter with sufficient rainfalls and snow, while summer is hot during the day and cool at night. North winds blow during the whole year ensuring a low level of relative humidity which is a factor of high importance for the quality of grapes. The soil is poor, sandy, sandy-clay with slightly alkaline PH with good drainage due to the fact that the slope has a south orientation. All the rural tasks, including harvest, are done by hand. This way, both the lowest stress to vineyards and the highest quality of grapes is achieved.
For us, a winemaking approach emphasizing on terroir of Amyntaio and leading to special wines, is one-way. Our target is to create wines which will be cherished not only in Greece but also abroad for their uniqueness and excellent quality.
