Zoumiatiko
Also known as: Damiatis, Smederevka.
White Balkan variety (from Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Turkey), grown throughout Macedonia and Thrace. It ripens in mid September.
If cultivated at a low yield per vine, the Zoumiatiko variety produces wines of average alcoholic strength, medium to low acidity and a gentle aroma. It is used in making certain Vins de Pays (Messimvriotikos [of Messimvria], Avdiron [of Avdira], Serron [of Serres], Ismarikos [of Ismaros]) and Table wines.
