A red variety cultivated in a very limited area in Epirus (particularly in the prefecture of Ioannina).
It is a vigorous and productive variety susceptible to dry periods. It ripens in early to mid September.
The wine produced from the Bekari variety has high alcoholic content, and medium acidity and colour. It is used in making the Vin de Pays of Ioannina.
