Vertzami
Also known as: Martzavi, Lefkaditiko
One of the richest-in-colour Greek red varieties, found mainly in Lefkada and also sporadically in Preveza, Agrinio and Patras. It ripens in mid September.
When cultivated in the appropriate soil and at low altitudes the Vertzami yields wines that are rich in colour, have high alcoholic strength and balanced acidity. It is used in making a number of Table wines.
